Return

Just before school began in August we enjoyed one last getaway to the mountains. The Mail Man had reserved a very special spot for us, and we had a most perfect weekend returning to the place our lives first began. 12 years ago we spent a chilly June morning digging out the hot springs (him) and sprucing up the cabin(me) for a quaint gathering of friends and family on our wedding day. This magic place was well off the beaten path, and there was nothing glam about that day.
But it was perfect. Kind of like this weekend with our girls.
We told lots of stories about our wedding day and they tried to understand why they weren't there. We soaked long and well in a freshly dug pool of natural hot water several times a day. We stayed up late at night to marvel at a myriad of shooting stars under a dark mountain sky(while soaking). We heard the lonely howl of wolves (hair raising), and ducked from scads of bats careening out of our little cabin's attic at dusk. We ate delicious food and spent plenty of time just hanging. We even took an after shot.12 years later things are looking pretty good. There's been plenty of rocky and even more happy. Most of all there are times like this. Memories that last forever and cast a happy glow over it all. This was just the return we needed.
