The People Have Spoken

Well, no one was brave enough to shut me up, so Go Local continues for yet another year. I feel pretty good about continuing the cause of local food, especially since we are going to have a lot of really yummy, really local produce to eat and preserve this summer. In the spirit of keeping things fresh and fun I've decided the theme of Go Local 2010 will be Using Your Bounty.
A series of posts relating to the recipes and the preservation efforts of local eaters.
The stars of the show?
Well, that would be you, fine people! You are officially invited to leave a comment letting me know how much you'd love to write a guest post sometime this summer. I need 12 writers, and it doesn't matter if you've written before or never even made yourself known as a reader.
I'd like to post one guest blog each week just like last summer. Share a recipe you love, a story about preserving with your Grandma growing up, or your sister, or your son. leave a comment telling me you are interested in sharing the joy or sorrow of preserving food and I'll contact you to choose a date.Let's see if we can inspire someone to preserve something local this year! Of course there will still be talk of growing your own food, hopefully some interviews with local farmers, recipes for seasonal favorites, and Mr. Linky will be here to help us share all of the above with each other. You said that was one of your favorite parts, so this means that the more people who share blog posts the more fun we will have. Spread the word friends! The more links the more fun. Oh, and put the call for guest blogs out to anyone you know who might be interested in writing something! This call for entries is not limited to our circle.

  1. Oh, me! :) I'm a decent writer (English teacher...). I would love to write about my grandma, dill pickles & frozen strawberry jam!

Here's a couple of posts I wrote for my blog that I'm proud of:

  3. Yipee! So glad you decided to keep this going. I would be willing to write something...but it may end up being more of a what we tried and what we would do differently. If you have plenty of guest writers, please take them first so I can learn from them!

  5. I'm a rookie, but if you'll have me, I'd love to share some of my beginners wisdom (read: follies). I'm proof of how inspirational this challenge is. The garden is in, the herbs are planted...and we actually have a few green things sprouting.

  6. You can put me down for a guest post on canning - I have canned tomatoes, and a friend recently gave me a great recipe for pickled beets that I want to try this year. Yummy!

  7. YAY Heather! I'm really excited about this challenge. I'd be happy to contribute if you need me. My grandma just passed away last month and I would love to share the story of how she inspired me to grow my own food and live sustainably.

  8. Since I grew up on a garden and canned EVERYTHING all summer long, I have a bit of experience.

I'd love to guest post for you this summer (sometime in August or September, please - June and July are insane for me already). My post will be full of memories of canning as a child (the pains, the torture, etc) and the joys of canning as an adult.
