A Little Lace

I've been knitting. In fact as far as crafty ventures go it's about all I've been doing. I have not been knitting all day every day, though. I'm getting my act together where my time is concerned, and making an effort to only knit when the girls are in bed, or when I am not with them, and when my house is clean. So this sweater represents about 30 hours of knitting over the course of 1 month.
I'm pretty damn proud of myself for completing a big girl sweater that actually fits. Can you tell how proud I am? Hadley helped me with the photo shoot and since the serious faced photos were turning out totally goofy I decided to go with goofy on purpose.
This sweater is the pullover version of Peasy. I bought the yarn to knit a sweater for myself exactly one year ago. I'm not only proud of the knitting in this sweater and the hundreds of thousands of stitches that went into its construction, I'm also proud of myself for obeying my yarn diet rule and not buying more yarn in the name of focusing on the projects I already have the materials for. This diet applies to my sewing supplies as well. So far I'm being very good.
Here is another stash buster project. This is the Phydeaux Art Deco Lace Neck Cuff. I learned that I can only knit lace at night when no one else is around. Once I was finally done ripping (3 times) and got myself through a couple repeats this was easy peasy and turned out so lovely and soft.
Project details for Peasy here. Neck Cuff here.

  2. Wowee! I am so freakin' impressed! Your sweater is amazingly beautiful! And you're beautiful wearing it. :)

Thanks for the shout out, sweets! I'm so glad you enjoyed it - the sneak peek is beautiful! Lace is so much fun ... I have no idea how I would do it if I had littles ones and a hubs to distract me - I'm already easily distracted, resulting in continual reknitting of messed up rows. :)

    Yay! xoxo

  4. WOW! Now that is cool! I need you to teach me how to knit and I'll teach you how to crochet...

I have been sewing in the same manner you have been knitting. Mostly at night.

  11. Way to go!! What a lovely sweater! I have just started a big girl sweater for myself! I can only knit lace when I'm alone too...not a good social knitting project.

  13. !!!!!!!!!! (That is my best visual approximation of the gasp I just let out and the dropped jaw I have to accompany it.) Heather!!! That is gorgeous!!! You have every right to be proud -- the knitted adult sweater (that fits) is the Holy Grail of knitting. I have not accomplished this feat, and I am very jealous that you have reached the upper echelon of knitters -- congratulations! Oh, my poor knitting needles are feeling so lonely...

  14. I can't remember the word you shout out at the end of a concert when you want more . . . .? Well, whatever that word is, I am shouting it out at you! MORE MORE MORE. You did great. Lots of love went into that beauty. Wear it proudly.
