Pretty and Sweet

Yesterday I finally cast off my first knitted garment. Pretty much everyone I know is knitting this little sweater this year, and why shouldn't we?! It's a free pattern available here, with really lovely modifications found here. This little shirt is really quick and simple to knit up.

I think knitting is like magic. You start with a fiber, which is spun into yarn, which is then tangled and twisted into something useful. The way things come together in knitting is astounding to me. When I finished the first sleeve on this sweater I was shocked. I mean really?! How did that last little combination of whatchamacallits wind up making a sleeve?

However it works...I'm hooked.

  2. Oh my gosh Heather!!!! That is just the darn cutest.

You are making me so lonely for my needles!!! I have GOT to start knitting again when my free time opens up. (About 6 weeks to go! And I'm going to hold you to that suggestion of a playdate!)

PS I'm knitting the same little shirt for my niece Belle's birthday in July.
