Just One Meal

If every US citizen ate just one meal a week (any meal) composed of locally and organically raised meats and produce, we would reduce our country's oil consumption by over 1.1 million barrels of oil every week. That's not gallons, but barrels. Small changes in buying habits can make big differences. -Steven L. Hop, Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

Are you getting ready? Go Local 2009 is almost here!

Will you be joining us?

  1. OF COURSE!!!! It is going to be a little tougher this year because both of the local fruit and veggie stands that were close by closed. I guess I will just have to make more trips to the farmer's market.

  2. I'm in this year too...but like Jen it'll be a bit more challenging for me. I don't live in the city anymore (near a local farmer's market two days a week)...BUT I will hopefully (fingers crossed) have a bit of Adams/Samet grown produce in the late summer.

  3. I am keeping my fingers crossed that our little town (1,000 souls) will have a market this year. Otherwise we are just to darned far away to warrant driving so many miles.
We do raise our own grass fed beef and will hopefully have a better garden this year than last.

  4. I'm in! Fingers crossed that I'll be in my own home early enough to start a little garden of my own! Otherwise, it's off to the farmers market for me! But I'm up for the challenge!

  5. You've inspired us Heather! We are going to take the challenge a little further and try to buy local the entire summer!!! Luckily we live in an area with a fabulous grocery store and farmer's market almost every day of the week within a 15 minute radius!!! And our own little veggie patch. We'll see!!!!
