The "E" Word

I know I certainly don't want to hear one more word about the economy. Except that I really have no clue what is going on! I mean, sure, I get that there's a housing market crisis. I get that oil soared and gas prices went with it. I get that there is a credit quagmire. But what does it all mean and how on earth did we get there? (Aside from overspending and acting like selfish that too judgmental?)

I did not understand. Until....enter This American Life. Once again...they save my stay at home, hate to watch the news because they never really tell you anything anyway, bacon.

Once I listened to this episode I had a much better idea of what was really going on. It helped. Information presented in what I felt was a very non-political way was refreshing and informing.

I still think I don't want to hear the word E.C.O.N.O.M.Y. again. But at least I have a better understanding of why everyone else seems to want to talk about it. If you want to know more there's a daily blog all about it.

  1. I will have to listen to this...although I can't imagine that anyone has a complete grasp on this situation. It is so confusing and scary.
    Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

  2. Sometimes I laugh at what peas in a pod we are, I loved this episode...not because the topic was especially charming...but it was nice to feel like some sort of expert-ish person on the whole issue! -S

  3. Thanks for sharing. I will have to check it out.

  4. Thanks for sharing that link - I'll have to listen to it. I totally don't listen to much news, because it's so depressing. But I'll admit I've been tuning in a bit more these days...!

  5. I have to comment on how cute your hair is and I can't believe I haven't seen it in person yet. And I do agree about the E word... I'm just tired of it all.
