Vacation is more than just a place. It is a state of mind where beauty moves around you in slow, swirling circles. Where treasures are found in moss and sand. Where food tastes better at 10 am and 2 pm is the perfect time for lunch. Vacation is where books are devoured alongside sweet, drippy ice cream cones, and children are tucked into bed far too late. Black Cherry Soda stains left on lips and chins without worry. Normal routines are suspended and plans are seldom carried through. At least not it the ways we imagined.
Coming home from a place like McCall is never easy. It's just so beautiful and relaxing to get out of the endless concrete that is our daily environment and into the natural world. But now that we're home we are enjoying our little space again. Renewed and rejuvenated by the fresh mountain air and the lack of schedules vacations afford.
We enjoyed a most serene hike through the Lilly Marsh Trial in Ponderosa State Park. Well serene after we talked the nice park ranger into letting us into the visitors center early to buy the strongest bug spray on the market. The mosquitos are something else up there.
Amelia sacked out in the arms of a very nice Daddy who carried her for most of the hike.
