Yesterday I had the pleasure of spending time with a very good childhood friend. When I was in fourth grade I met a girl named Sarah Burkholder. We became instant buddies. We spent as much time with each other as we could muster, meeting half way across the school field that separated our two houses. Countless hours were spent talking about the boys we "loved" and visiting the neighborhood book and candy stores down the street. We shared much joy and heartbreak through our junior high and high school years, and we are still sharing these things today.

I was so thankful that she and her husband drove 30 hours with their two little boys to spend time with loved ones, and included me and my girls as part of their precious, limited time visiting home. It was really fun to see her little ones and give her a hug. Thanks for a really fun afternoon, Sarah! I look forward to many more reunions in the future.

  1. I love this picture...and am so envious!! I'm glad you had such a wonderful day with such a fond friend. Wonderful, Wonderful.

  2. Thank you for making me tear up on the computer here, Heather. It was so good to see you and meet Amelia (such a cutie pie!!!) and catch up with Hadley (I'll have to post the photo of her and Jonah holding hands). I do have to say, however, that as much as I love traveling around with my family, I didn't really get a chance to chat with you and I was so sad...maybe next time!!

  3. I know what you mean, Sarah! I wish we had been able to enjoy an extra "session" with time to chat a little more. Next time you have to stay a little longer. :) I hope the rest of your trip went as well as the first half! I miss you already.

And...Sara, thanks for stopping by. Good to "see" you.
